Position Summary:
The Groundskeeper Supervisor oversees the daily care and appearance of the resort’s hotel grounds and assigned pool areas. This role leads the groundskeeping team in maintaining guest-facing landscapes, walkways, entrances, courtyards, and other outdoor spaces while supporting safe pool water quality and chemical handling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, schedule, and support groundskeeping staff; assign work and inspect completed tasks.
- Maintain landscaped areas around guest rooms, the lobby, spa, restaurants, meeting spaces, pools, and other assigned hotel facilities.
- Oversee pruning, planting, irrigation, weed control, debris removal, and seasonal landscape work.
- Test and document pool water chemistry, adjust chemical levels within established procedures, and promptly report equipment or water quality concerns.
- Ensure pool chemicals are handled, stored, and applied safely in accordance with applicable requirements and resort procedures.
- Inspect grounds and assigned pool areas daily for appearance and safety concerns, including trip hazards, irrigation leaks, and areas needing repair.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Housekeeping, Security, and resort leadership to address guest requests and operational needs.
- Maintain equipment and supplies, track work completed, and assist with purchasing and budget control.
- Plan work to minimize disruption to guests, events, and resort operations.
- Respond to urgent grounds or pool-area issues as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous landscaping or grounds maintenance experience, including experience leading a team.
- Experience testing pool water, maintaining proper chemical balance, and safely handling and storing pool chemicals.
- Working knowledge of irrigation systems, plant care, pruning, and landscape equipment.
- Familiarity with desert landscaping and water-efficient maintenance practices preferred.
- Current pool operator certification preferred, or ability to obtain certification within a timeframe set by the resort.
- Strong organization, communication, and guest service skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform the physical duties of the position.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends or holidays when needed.
- Valid driver’s license, if required for assigned duties.
